Abstract
This study compares rapid HBsAg diagnostic testing with Polymerase Chain Reaction for detection of Hepatitis B Virus among 100 patient samples. Rapid testing detected 57 positive and 43 negative samples, whereas PCR detected 68 positive and 32 negative samples. Among the 68 PCR positive samples, 23 showed HBV DNA values above 10,000 IU/mL and 45 showed values below 10,000 IU/mL.
The findings demonstrate differences between rapid HBsAg detection and molecular detection of HBV DNA and highlight the importance of appropriate interpretation of laboratory diagnostic results.
